Specialist transport to Germany news - Volcanic ash hits transport systems

Companies providing specialist transport to Germany have faced up to significant delays and confusion this week as a result of the effects of an ash cloud from the Icelandic Eyjafjallajokull volcano.

Despite the situation not reaching the crisis levels of 2010, when there was a blanket ban on flights, many providers of specialist transport to Germany have been forced to take innovative steps in order to circumvent chaos and delays at German airports.

For example, across Europe on Tuesday there were 500 flight cancellations, with the majority of these in Germany – as a result many haulage companies were left in the lurch, unable to deliver or pick up cargo from many of the continent's airports.

The situation has proved particularly inconvenient to some of the organisers of this summer's music and art festivals.

It is thought that if the situation in Germany continues, many event organisers will find themselves reliant on emergency road-based specialist transport to Germany as an alternative to transportation by air.
