Boyle musical to tour UK

Theatre transport is set to take one of the UK's more unusual shows of the year on tour – a stage musical based around the life story of Susan Boyle.

Boyle, who found fame with a stellar Britain's Got Talent audition, has said that she is "thrilled" about the show. In fact, theatre transport will also be helping deliver Boyle to the show for a "guest appearance" in which audiences will be treated to the bizarre spectacle of Boyle performing as herself.

"I'm very much looking forward to stepping on stage with the rest of the cast," said Boyle.

"It is an honest portrayal of my life and has been a cathartic process to be involved in," she added.

Normally, the part of Boyle will be played by Elaine C Smith, of Rab C Nesbitt fame. "There's a lot of pressure to get it accurate and to honour Susan's life story but to do it in a way that is funny, moving and magical and, as the writers, producers and performers, we're doing our best to achieve that," said the actress.

The musical will begin at Newcastle's Theatre Royal before theatre transport take it on tour to other parts of the country, with whispers already afoot that it will travel to Sussex and Hampshire.
