First sleighs, then planes

It may be the time of year when the most important specialist transport visiting Hampshire is a famous sleigh piloted by a red and white uniformed man of international renown, but some of the UK's leading haulage companies are already busy thinking about how they can facilitate the 2012 Farnborough International Airshow.

The event will be held from 14-15 July 2012 and will give members of the public the opportunity to meet pilots and talk to ground crew while walking through displays which have been brought to Hampshire by specialist transport companies.

Additionally, there will an amazing 4-hour-long aerobatics display, as well as demonstrations of vintage flying greats and some of the world's speediest aircraft.

Plus, 2012 is set for a one-off event to mark the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the throne, which will include a "patriotic" flying demonstration.

But the airshow will not be all about the public – recent events have attracted billions of pounds in orders for those in the aviation trade, which in turn creates more work for specialist transport in Hampshire.

But for now the only bit of really important specialist transport visiting Hampshire will be accompanied by jingle bells!
