Goodwood gears up for festival

There is now only a short time to go before the Goodwood Festival of Speed gets under way and specialist transport is already beginning to converge on Sussex in preparation for the 2011 event.

And specialist transport will certainly be delivering some real goodies Sussex's way – Formula 1 cars, circus and showground equipment and vintage vehicles are just some of the attractions expected to pull in around 180,000 visitors and bring in an estimated £150 million to the local economy.

The event has certainly grown since the first Festival of Speed in 1993 when only 2,000 people were expected, although 20,000 did eventually turn up.

Nine of the 12 Formula 1 teams currently competing for the World Championship will be represented at Goodwood, while nearly all the World Rally Championship teams will be requiring specialist transport to Sussex.

It certainly seems promising.
