Sziget festival coming up
No time of the year is as busy as the summer for band transport in Europe. Now, following on from some of the world's biggest acts, including U2, Coldplay, Beyonce and Morrissey playing Glastonbury, band transport in Europe is already busy making plans for the Sziget Festival in Hungary, one of Europe's biggest.
However, one act that will not be there is Amy Winehouse. The controversial and troubled singer has pulled out of the festival, shortly after having to refund gig-goers for a sub-standard and disturbing performance given at a concert in Belgrade.
"The management of Amy Winehouse has decided today to cancel all her concerts scheduled for this year, including her main stage gig at Sziget Festival," commented a spokesperson for the singer.
Rockers Foo Fighters have also pulled out, but organisers have swiftly found replacements in Kate Nash, Kaiser Chiefs and the Prodigy.
"Fifty days before the festival starts, we had to close the programme, so we have decided to bring back the Prodigy, who have always been popular here and are very much in demand," said a Sziget organizer.
There will be no shortage of big name bands – band transport will be travelling across Europe to bring kit to Hungary for acts Kasabian, Pulp, Interpol, the Chemical Brothers and the National.
